Used to work fine, but then I reset my device, now when I try to cast from my Android Plex app, I get a message that says ‘living room tv (chromecast) unable to connect securely to (my plex server name)’
now I know a work around is to set my settings to Preferred rather than Required. But what if I don’t want that noise? I want my connection secure. So how do I ensure this once again? thanks for any help.
I’m getting the exact same thing. Driving me absolutely up the wall.
Read the logs from the Android app and it just simply doesn’t want to verify the hostname.
I can cast sometimes from the Android app, and I can always cast from the web browser. My parents in a different country can cast to their Chromecast without issue.
If I connect to my OpenVPN server which is on the same network, Casting works just fine. I assume it has something to do with it being local? DNS issues?
An exception occurred: java.net.UnknownHostException: Unable to resolve host "192-168-1-35.a78d205245fxxxxxa52518169cfc36b4.plex.direct": No address associated with hostname
Is the error that I get when trying to cast.
That then leads to
[Cast] Hostname verification failed and HTTPs is required by the server. Notifying user that the connection is impossible.
What on earth is going on? I can copy and paste the address into termux and use nslookup to verify that it’s just pointing at my Plex server.
