Can't Change E-mail address

I tried to change my e-mail address in Plex, and was given an error that the e-mail was already taken with another Plex account. I Know I had a second Login and used that other e-mail address, that I am fairly certain I deleted about a year ago. How can I change my E-mail address? I am about to lose access to that e-mail address, and I want it changed to my Gmail account.

  1. Have you changed your password since the data breach? If not, do so via Account Settings. Post breach, you must change your plex.tv account password before changing an e-mail address (just once, not for every e-mail address change).

  2. Check if your gmail address is still assigned to a Plex account.
    a) Using an incognito browser window, go to https://www.plex.tv/ and select Sign In.
    b) When the sign in page appears, select Forgot (as in forgot your password).
    c) Enter your gmail address on the next page.
    d) If it is in use, you will receive a password reset e-mail. Use it to reset the password for that account.
Note: Password reset e-mails were delayed by hours/days after the recent security breach. However, I just tried it with a Yahoo account and received the e-mail in less than a minute.

  3. If a Plex account is associated with your gmail address, do not delete it. Doing so will block that e-mail from re-use for 30 days.

  4. Contact Plex Billing (link at bottom of web page). They should be able to help straighten things out.

  5. If losing access to your current e-mail is imminent, you can always create another, temporary e-mail account at Google/Yahoo/etc and use it until things are straightened out.

With Gmail, you can easily create alias addresses which all go into the same inbox. Get Extra Email Addresses for your Gmail Account with Aliases - Digital Inspiration
So you can simply use such an alias (which will not be “already in use”).
