I’ve confirmed in the web player and in Plex Media Player that if I turn on Hardware Transcoding and start a movie it does not allow me to change the quality of the stream under settings without producing this error:
Playback Error
An error occurred trying to play
If I turn off Hardware Transcoding the feature works as expected.
If I change the local play quality settings on the player before playing the movie that works with Hardware Transcoding.
Hi @andyrblank, thanks for reporting this issue. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to reproduce it locally. In order to proceed, would you please provide logs from both PMP and PMS? These should give us more detailed information as to what is going wrong with playback.
Are you able to test playback on another device? If so, please let me know if changing quality works there.
I also just tried the web player again remotely and when I change quality I can see the transcode settings change (from Tautulli on my phone) but the web player just keeps spinning the yellow/orange loading dialogue.
The error doesn’t seem to show when running remotely though (maybe a higher timeout value?)
