Transcoding problems after moving plex server

When “Use hardware acceleration when available” is checked the server transcodes just fine. If I check “Use hardware-accelerated video encoding” at the same time as the other one, I am unable to transcode my media. I just transferred from one system to another using the moving guide and this GPU works for encoding in handbrake and has the latest Nvidia drivers. I have uploaded the log file for any help. Really strange.

Hi @MewMew,

Im pretty sure this is the same issue that has been mentioned here: Converting to a lower quality fails with Hardware-Accelerated Streaming in Plex Web - #19 by nlundqu

See post #19 that is linked above as it mentions the same two plex clients failing when attempting to transcode to a lower quality.
I would recommend adding your logs and findings on that thread as this issue is still ongoing.

I do have one question @MewMew, your title of this post states “problems after moving plex server”, do you still have access to your old server to attempt the same scenario & check if the issue occurs on the old server?

I don’t have access to it but I can watch & transcode Live TV and a few other libraries but this library is broken somehow.
Edit: I just tried a different library and it’s broken too… I am not sure how this GPU was working fine in the other install and then I move it and it only works in live tv. It’s really weird, other programs can access it fine too.
Sidenote: The video files are coming from a NAS, but they were before as well. Tried local copies of the files with no change.
This machine is running in a VM with the GPU passed through. It doesn’t really make sense to me that it works for any libraries it is responsible for like the live tv but then any libraries from before the transfer don’t work… hmm.
Edit: created a new library and the issue is still present.
It looks like it always has no trouble transcoding if you need it, and if that file needs it you can change the quality and it does it, but if you go to a direct play file and try to change the quality then it does that. Then again, iirc it did transcode a few different direct play files…

Just a few things I saw:
Mar 09, 2021 09:10:19.169 [5844] WARN - [Transcode] Denying access due to session lacking permission to transcode key /library/metadata/12534

Mar 09, 2021 09:18:39.710 [7808] ERROR - Unknown metadata type: folder

I can get it to work reliably with just decoding on but not with encoding on at the same time. Yet, if I have it on it has shown that it can do it with live tv and some files that actually require it. Bump

I have read that post and I have the exact same thing! I have commented on it as well.
