Can't Claim Server

Server Version#:1.19.1.2645-ccb6eb67e
Player Version#:

I had issues finding the server when logging into my account on any of my authorized devices. After renaming the file to preferences.xml.old and restarting the service, the media server is now found although I’m unable to claim the server.

I’ve checked the DNS settings on my router and they’re set for 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I don’t have any other security running on the router. Not sure what else to look for.

Here are the logs.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-04-11_00-05-22.zip (1.2 MB)

Could you elaborate a little on “correct your network”? Everything else on the network is working normally as far as I can tell, so I’m not sure where to start looking.

Thanks for your time.

Your server cannot resolve hostnames and convert to IP addresses.

DNS lookup

Control Panel - Network - Adapter

Check the DNS server.

That failing, try using google 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8

 (Could not resolve host: plex.tv)

Thanks, that was it.

On the Synology, Control Panel > Network > General

Under IPv6 default gateway I manually configured for the Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

Appreciate the help.

Plex doesn’t use IPv6. You need IPv4. If you personally don’t need V6, turn it off.
Life will be better. Plex’s implementation of V6 is partial.

As far as I can see, there is no other option for setting the default gateway DNS settings in DSM. Only for IPv6. That’s where I modified the DNS and was subsequently able to claim the server. Everything seems to be working and the server is now also accessible remotely.

However, under the Network Interface tab I can edit the LAN1 IPv4 DNS setting if I switch it off of DHCP and manually configure it. Is this what you’re suggesting? To someone who isn’t an IT professional and doesn’t get into the weeds too often on this stuff, what difference am I going to see?

Set as default gateway,

Very thanks!! When I changed DNS and use Google DNS, I could resolve this issue.
