Disclaimer: My computer doesn’t have a wireless card or anything (custom build) so I run the internet through network sharing on my phone (tethered).
I am trying to watch the content on the media server I created on my PC from my TV (LG Smart TV), but alas no ■■■■■■■ success in even getting into the library anywhere except the web app on my PC. Not even my PS4 will connect! And I’ve just paid for this ■■■■ so I’m a little pissed!
The TV says: “[server] is offline or unreachable,” mind you, it is in fact online. The PS4 says: The server [server] is unavailable, Plex will automatically try to reconnect to this server."
Now, Remote Access will not work. It did for a short while, but the frustrating thing is that I’m doing the same ■■■■ I was doing when it worked and it’s not working again. Just says “Not available outside your network,” and I’ve tried putting the port in as “32400” as well as the TV’s IP, the laptops IP, hell, even my ■■■■■■■ phone’s IP, and no success. Same with automatic.
I’ve enabled the DLNA server, tried disabling and enabling secure connections, allowed these IP addresses “without auth,” yes I am ■■■■■■■ logged in to the server and my account, everything is logged in, tried all the troubleshooting steps and literally not one measly ounce of difference each time, just the same ■■■■■■■ “[server] is offline or unreachable.” This is ridiculous, haven’t found a single concrete answer online.
Anyone have any answers???!
Seems your internet set up is a complete mess. I suggest NOT running everything through your phone. Try using an Ethernet cable to your computer.
I had exactly the same problem yesterday after upgrading to PMS 1.15.1.791.
After a lot of experiments, I eventually found that the “upgrade” had mysteriously
changed a firewall setting. This has never happened before on earlier upgrades.
Assuming you’re using the Windows Defender Firewall, go to the “Allow apps to communicate through Windows Defender Firewall” setting.
Find the Plex entries and ensure that all “private” entries are enabled.
You may also have to enable some of the “public” settings as well if you access the server externally.
Please let me know if this works.
