Can't connect from an LG TV

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173
Player Version#: 5.27.3

Since a month or two the Plex client on my LG 55C8PLA TV cannot connect to the Plex server on the same local network. I can connect with my phone without any issues.

I don’t have Early Access. Allw Insecure Connections is set to Always. On the server’s Authorised Devices tab I can see that the TV is authorised on the server, but on the TV it says that the server is currently unavailable. I’ve reset the client, reinstalled it - nothing works.

What do I do?

That sounds very much like the announcement from late September that certain vendors will no longer update older platforms for compatibility with current network security requirements. With LG that should apply to all Smart TVs which aren’t updated to WebOS 5.0 (e.g. because they don’t support that version).

If you’re ok with that you can configure your server to disable secure connections – this should allow your TV to connect to your server (though that’ll apply to all connections between your server and clients).

That’s ok, I use Plex only on my local network. How do I disable secure connections on the server? I couldn’t find such an option for IPv4.

  1. Go to Settings > [Server Name] > Network
  2. Set Secure connections to Disabled

Thank you, that worked!
