Can't connect to Plex through Samsung TV

I can’t seem to connect to my Plex server on Samsung Smart TV, it says.

Insecure connections are preferred and the selected server cannot be reached insecurely with your current settings.

You can change Settings > Main > Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections and try again.

When I try to launch Plex on my local network on (also) Samsung Smart TV, it seems to successfully ran without any problem, though I used local IP to connect rather than account.

The problem persist when I try configure Plex on my sibling house, I used my account to connect to my Plex server.

But when I tried to connect to my account through plex.tv/web, there was no problem. So I suspect it has something to do with Plex settings.

NOTE: Probably help, my Samsung TV is old version bought on 2014-2015 I think. My sibling’s TV is newer model (2018), so certainly the system is Tizen.

On your Plex Server, what are the Network settings for:

  • Secure connections
  • Disable weak TLS versions

Try Secure Connections = Preferred. This way it will accept both secure and insecure connections.

If you want to use secure connections with the older Samsung TV, uncheck “Disable weak TLS versions.”

Then verify the appropriate settings in the Plex app on your TVs. Make sure they are compatible with the server settings.

I’m sorry but you seem to misunderstand, Plex is working on my older Samsung TV (the one I say bought on 2014-2015), whilst the message appear on my sibling’s TV → Newer model. So no problem to my older TV.

Hello !!! Same for me. It seems not working.
Already configured, but keep telling me “Allow insecure connections”.

Hi I am having the same issue on my 2019 Samsung tv changed all suggested setting but unable to connect, working fine on my Ipad and my laptop. please help Tizen OS 5:0, Plex app 4.29.6
