I am new to PLEX and I have done some searching in the forums so please forgive the question if this is a repeat or the solution already exists. I still can’t seem to get it to work.
I installed the PLEX app from the apps menu on the TV (Version 5.1.0). In the Settings > About of the PLEX app it says (Client Version: 5.4.2; Platform Version: 3).
Upon signing in I am asked to follow https://PLEX.tv/link and given a 4-digit code. After entering this code on a signed in PC I am brought to a screen displaying both my administrator profile and the one managed user I created.
Clicking on either one of these accounts gives: “Choose your preferred server” “It looks like you have access to more then one Plex Media Server. Pick the one you use the most and Plex will use it to set up you home screen and side bar. You can alway customize it later.” There is nothing listed.
After it thinks a while the message changes to “Customize Your Navigation” and the list Movies & Shows on Plex, Live TV on Plex, ect. My server is not listed.
Clicking continue bring me to the app home screen. My email address is displayed in the upper left corner. Clicking on More in the side bar show a message “Server Name is Currently Unavailable”
I am running the latest version of Plex server for windows. The weird thing is all my other TV’s work and connect fine after following the exact same process however they are using a Roku Streaming sticks.
I would greatly appreciate any help. I have read it might have something to do with the Samsung SmartHub or the TVs firmware.
The TV is a UN65MU6300 with software version T-KTMAKUC-1280.5 , BT-S
Sadly I have the exact same problem. After 2 years of being very happy with Plex running on my Samsung QE55Q9FNA and PMS running on the Synology 916+ it refuses to connect to the server now, Media Server Offline… clearly this is not the case as I can access Plex just fine from iPads etc. Also, same TV effortlessly stream video from same NAS using DS Video (Synology app on the TV). I would love to get back to Plex as I favor its interface over DS Video… insights/ help? Anyone…??
both my Samsungs are 2018 (software version T-KTM2DEUC-1310.4 BT-S), security settings allow for insecure connection… (btw latest version media server on NAS PMS 1.21.0.136)
Exactly same issue here Actually same details as Peter. cant find server, works on my other tvs and devices. latest version as above, insecure allowed. version on tv is 5.1.0 . qnap and plex latest versions. uninstalled, rebooted, deleted device, i also have a plex pass.
took me ages to find this post, but exactly same issue.
If changing your TV app settings to “prefer insecure” doesn’t work, also check that PMS allows insecure connections. Go to https://app.plex.tv/ or your hosted PMS and check Settings -> Network to see if Secure Connections is Required. Try setting it to preferred or disabled and see if it helps.
I am running into this same issue. However, I am using a 2020 Samsung Smart TV. My FireStick plugged into the TV works fine using Plex. Using the smart TV app does not same issue as original poster. I have tried all the suggestions provided by sLumpy to no avail. Any further assistance on this issue would be great as to what might be the issue.
I’m also having trouble with a Samsung 43RU7172 from 2019 with Tizen.
I have multiple devices on the same network and it works on all of them: Phillips TV, iPhone, Apple TV except for the Samsung TV. It worked just fine up until I had to do a OS upgrade.
After I installed Plex Media Server on my MacBook, and logged in again in the Tizen App it briefly tells me that I have multiple Plex Servers and then defaults to the only one I actually have.
Now for the connection part:
It works with the Apple TV via both local and remote connections
I works from the Phillips TV via both local and remote connections
I works from the iPhone via both local and remote connections
On the Samsung Tizen it’s just saying:
MacBook Pro is currently unavailable
Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection. If you need additional help, please visit …
The network and internet connections are ok.
I have:
Tried with allow fallback on insecure connections and without and with it disabled
Tried with both Disable weak TLS versions on and off
The Plex Server is allowing incoming connections - proved by the fact that the iPhone app is working
Tried setting both the local and remote IP addresses in the Tizen app
I have the same problem (remote connection) and had a lot of help from @CostaHT today. I can connect via iPhone, MBP, and Apple TV but not the Samsung TV app. Looking at the server dashboard it appears that the successful connections are via “indirect” connection. Discussions evolved into whether my ISP is using CGNAT (carrier grade network address translation) which essentially gives you a double NAT situation. Seems this app is not compatible with the double NAT as is the web, MacOS, iPhone, and Apple TV apps.
Check your dashboard and see if you’re connecting “INDIRECT” from the other apps/methods.
My TV is a 2017 4K un58mu6071. I also have Plex Pass.
