Hi all, I recently bought a Samsung Series 8 RU8000 and downloaded Plex on it. It worked the first time I used it perfectly but now it suddenly can’t connect to my Plex Server on my computer. I haven’t changed any settings or anything since I used it.
On the Plex app there’s an exclamation mark next to ‘MynamePC’. I also have my friend’s sub account connected to my Plex and I can access all his stuff but not mine. It also works perfectly with my account if I play it through Chromecast on my phone or my PS4, but it would be much easier for me if it worked with the app.
I’ve tried a fair few things already including reinstalling the app on my tv, logging out/in on my PC, making sure Insecure Connections are set on ‘Always’ in my settings on the tv app, etc.
I’m pretty noob with all this stuff and have seen some people mention port forwarding and setting up a static IP etc but not too sure how to do that and not really hopeful that will even fix it.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Would be much appreciated.
Edit: Just forward my TV IP to Plex on my PC under Network, didn’t help.
This is happening to several people in the threads regarding Samsung Smart TVs. I have 3 Samsung Smart TVs and all but one don’t work. I am not exactly sure why the one still works as it is the oldest of the three I own. All my settings are still the same as before with one exception………the latest update from Plex.
Needless to say I have learned my lesson. I will wait a very long before I update my Plex software.
Yep it says on the support page that Samsung TV newer the 2016 are not supported anymore. They said to use Roko, Apple TV etc. only broken is that Plex is not on my Apple TV account to pick
