Can't continue playback because the connection with your server was lost 4g lte ios WAS NOT ANSWERED

It seems like everytime i run plex on my iphone on my cell connection 4g/LTE while streaming my music the app looses connection to my server frequently. I have used my laptop connected to my vpn on my nas to play my music from plex and have had no problems. Currently i am streaming music from my plex server on a remote wifi and so far no problems. I checked the logs and i saw a tls handshake error. I ended up completely removing plex from my nas. I deleted the app and then sshd into my nas and the folders that should have been deleted were not present. I removed the user and drive installed plex from synology package center added my whole library, without updating plex to latest version. I am still having this problem and it is very annoying and frustrating. I used to run a windows server 2012 on a desktop pc and used plex never had this problem before PLEASE HELP !!!

I have also, port forwared a manual port and added it to remote access. I turned off secured connections. After doing all this the problem still persists !

this seems to be the issue. no idea what to do

May I have the full ZIP file of the logs you download from the server (Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs) ?

It does look like your server wasn’t able to get the TLS key but I do need to examine your logs to be certain.
If that’s the case, the logs will also contain why it wasn’t able to get the key

I pm’d you the logs !

Thank you for the logs.

I see the error.

Please do the following:

  1. Download the newer version from Plex.tv/downloads
  2. Install and retest

As note: Synology only offers the 32 bit version of PMS. You have the 64 bit processor and can benefit from it. They also only update PMS when they do DSM updates (which means they are usually quite far behind current revision)

I was on the latest version for months and just yesterday i completely wiped everything thinking that would solve the problem and also not updating to the latest version. I am having this issue on both the old and new version. That problem with tls was in both logs.

What was the error you found ?

TLS… is being kicked back (which is what shows in the log). I asked if it exists in both versions to be certain before I point you at your local browser because that’s where the fallback is coming from.

I would need the browser logs ( Settings - Web - Debug - enabled) to be 100% certain

Interesting aside. If something in the middle is playing with the TLS connection (e.g… proxy), then it’s that MITM system

I updated pms on the nas to the latest version through manual install. Should i send you those logs now ? Do you think maybe my data connection could be causing it ?

If you’ve updated and it is still occurring then Yes, I think it’s a MITM (proxy somewhere) in your connection which is not propagating the TLS as it should be. It should be a data stream. If that remote is doing DPI (Deep Packet Inspection), there’s no way of knowing what is happening.

I do not have anything with a proxy, what is the outcome ? I used plex this morning before i updated the media server and had no problem. So as of right now the logs would probably be okay. In about two hours or so i will use plex again and if i have a server disconnection i will post back. Oddly enough, i think it may be Verizon capping my data and it is causing an intereference. That is what i meant by my data connection. I have unlimited data, but after 22 or 24 gbs they slow the connection down. Today is a brand new cycle so if i don’t have a problem with plex on my iphone then im assuming it’s my data. My question is, if it was let’s say my data would this tls issue occur or would it show something different ?

Sorry for delay. Forum went 503 as I posted.

I don’t assert you have a proxy. Your ISP might and minimally does have mini-proxy for IPv6<->IPv4 translation. I’ve seen many not perform this task correctly.

Some ISPs (like my local cable provider… which I do not use) clamp hard at 250GB cap. They cut off service. If you are a ‘more premium’ subscriber, you are allowed to continue at 56KB data rate

No i am not talking about my isp i am talking about my cell phone provider lol.

Keep in mind, that when i was running pms on my desktop pc that i ran as a server using windows server 2012 and 2016 for that matter. I never had this problem, while using plex remote on my iphone over my data cell connection.

Okay so it doesn’t look like a cell data issue it happened again. i will pm you the logs and the debug from web logs.

I will be offline for a few hours (personal business). will respond when i return

Okay i pm’d you all the logs

THank you for the logs. Having both Web and Server logs together are good.

May I ask you to now download 1.11.3 from Plex (the 64 bit version) and install it.

You have the 32 bit version which Synology offers (they do not provide the 64 bit).

I would like to confirm you have the problem there as well .

If you do not, then the TLS issue is confined to a 32 bit runtime library problem (not fun)

PS: Thank you for your patience. Yesterday was not a good day for me.

Can you provide me to the direct link ?
