Can't delete default Plex Server

Server Version#:1.27.2.5929
Player Version#:NA

Hi All,

Long story short my Plex server crashed, I couldn’t access my backups, I set up a new Plex server, then found an old backup I was able to restore from. I deleted the new Plex server from my account but it seems to have messed stuff up. I now have what looks like a “default” Plex server that I cannot delete and it seems to have my DVR/Live TV attached to it. I’m not sure how to delete this entry.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as Android based devices default to this server. Thanks!!

“Plex” with Live TV & Music? That’s the online services from Plex. You can enable/disable in Account Settings → Online Media Sources.

Thanks,
That removed all of the options but didn’t fix my issue. I turned everything off and it remains there and my Firestick still defaulted to it.

It is still there, but that is not your home page. You only see that view when selecting More, to see libraries not pinned to your home page.

I don’t particularly care that it’s there, but Android devices/smart TVs/TV sticks default to it. Is there a way to change that? It didn’t happen before my server failure fiasco.

I’m not seeing the same as you. I’ve disabled all online media sources. I do not see Plex when selecting More. I’m using the FireStick 4K (Android TV), Android Mobile, & Plex LG TV apps.

Two thoughts:

  1. Was your old server named “Plex”? If so, go to the list of Authorized Devices. If the server is listed there, delete it.

  2. Maybe reset customizations, like when first setting up the app and choosing libraries?

Android TV: Highlight Home on the left side, move to left & select three vertical dots. Should bring up a screen with a choice to “Reset all Customizations.”

LG TV: Select username at top left. Will see a screen with multiple choices. Select “Reset Home Customization.”

Android Mobile: Select three vertical dots in top right corner of home screen. Choose Reset Customizations.

Should be similar on other apps.

I don’t actually have to hit More, it’s there as soon as I open the Plex app. Nothing but my main server listed under authorized devices. My old server is named the same as my current server.

If resetting customizations does not work, then delete the app, reboot the device, and re-install the app. That will clear out any old preferences and make sure you have the current version of the client.

I don’t think it’s a setting issue. I have a newly imaged laptop and just installed the Windows Plex App and it’s there. It’s there and defaulting on every client. It’s like plex is seeing a server that isn’t there and I can’t interact with it. If I were to completely shutdown my current plex server and delete it, then log in it would still be there.

What do you mean by “defaulting on every client”?

If you mean it is visible when choosing MORE >, then that is expected behavior.

I think I misunderstood. I thought you meant your Plex client was somehow choosing “Plex” as the preferred server, which is why I suggested resetting customizations.

“Plex” cannot be chosen as a preferred server. I’ve two servers. If I reset customizations on a client, it lists only my two servers. I pick one, and can then pick which server libraries to pin to my home screen.

“Plex” is not a server. It is a placeholder for the Plex online services, so you can pin them to your home screen. Shutting down or deleting your server would have no effect, as accessing the online services do not require having a Plex server.

Got it, I had to reset the customizations a second time and that seems to have fixed it. Thanks!
