Can't disable subtitles on Samsung TV

Thanks I’ll look into it.

Just following up on this again: I spend the weekend stripping out some of the subtitles from one of the series

This is one file that has had the subtitles removed. I looked up a tutorial on MKVToolNix to remove the subtitles from the file.

However, I just played the file again on plex and the subs are still there. I have double checked to make sure there are no sub files in that directory nor are the subs hard coded in the file.

Happy Monday

Just to confirm that I noticed the same. The subtitle streams in MKVToolNix are gone, but they still showed in Plex. The subtitles could also be seen in VLC player as Subtitle - Sub Track - “English - [English]”. Maybe subtitles in mkv files can be stored in more than one way?

Have you tried playing with different UI languages in the Plex Player vs the Tizen UI? It seems the problem is related to language selection “somewhere”

Thanks for your response.

I went back and looked at the language in plex just to be sure. It is set to English, subtitles are not set to burn (in video) and they are off by default on that account. If there is any combo of settings that should be tried, I’m up for it.

Is the subtitle still available as an external file?

Confirmed subtitles are not in the file. I am using MKVtools nix but I can use something else to be sure.

I mean in the folder, maybe there is a subtitle file in the same folder as the video file.
Or a subtitle in the folder from a folder.

Correct, there is no subtitle file within the folder
