Tv mode disappeared on my desktop player?

Server Version#: Version 1.18.2.2015
Player Version#: Version 1.3.1.916-1cb2c34d

Hey, I’m trying to change my PMP video hardware decoding settings on my Windows machine. Usually I need to switch to TV mode then navigate to video, however the icon at top is missing, what gives?

Have you possibly installed Plex for Windows rather than Plex Media Player?

They brought out a new player. (and that is what gets offered on the downloads page)

If you want Plex Media Player, you will need to download it from here:

Or there is new Beta of Version 3

I’m sure it has been said before, but that’s seriously confusing.
Problem solved though, so thanks heaps!

Yep… they were going to replace PMP with the New Player app, but there was such a backlash

It has - and it is - and if everyone that prefers PMP bitches a little about it Plex might get a clue how important it is and raise it’s exposure a little higher than a ‘hidden link’ only ‘the well informed’ know about.

If Plex wants their ‘New Player’ to be the SuperHero they think it is - they better put a TV View Mode in it - and all those fancy bells and whistles their New Player lacks.

The new desktop apps were not ever meant to be a full replacement of PMP. The replacements were meant to be various streaming set top boxes.

I am fully aware what Plex’s ‘Intention’ was.
I am also fully aware they are wrong.
As is the CTO and all of those participants in The Plex Riot of 2019.

Plex needs to add PMP to the ‘Apps’ section - just like their brand new baby player.
If they’re going to support it - let people know where it is.

My point is Plex does not want the desktop versions to be SuperHeroes as you stated.

they better change that opinion then.

I don’t have internal logistics at my disposal, but I’d wager a guess there are probably as many people using Plexweb regularly than all the devices combined (well, let’s just say a -_-_load). When Plexweb falls on it’s face - 'cause it’s running in a browser - a SuperHero better be called in and currently Plex has two of them - only one of which is listed in the apps section and that one can be considered Diet SuperHero. Classic SuperHero is working through a hidden link.

THAT is my point.

I am also aware Plex wants everyone to rush out a buy a Shield. That’s not going to happen. They better have some Superheros warmed up, shined up and backed into the bay ready to go when the Alarm Klaxon sounds.

This may be off topic, but the PMP 3.0 Beta worked much better than PMP v2.44.0 at reducing my video stuttering once I finally had access the the hardware decoding settings.
