Can't Get "Digimon: Digital Monsters" Metadata

UPDATE: It turns out the agent wasn't working right, but now it is. Problem solved.

I'm trying to get season 1 of Digimon: Digital Monsters to appear in Plex and it's not working. The files are on Windows, so I can't use a colon in the name. I've tried "Digimon Digital Monsters", "Digimon- Digital Monsters", "Digimon - Digital Monsters", and "Digimon". When I say I tried all these variations, I mean I named the folder and files with that variation (e.g. "TV Shows\Digimon\Season 1\Digimon - s01e01 - And So It Begins....avi"). The metadata never appears, even after waiting a long time. It's like it can't find a match, and I'm wondering if it's because of the colon. What am I doing wrong?

I’m having the same problem! I Even fixed the match with the correct “Digimon: Digital Monsters” using “fix match…” and selected the right one, it starts loading the metadata from The TVDB and then BOOM, it reverts back to Digimon Adventures and season 3-5 don’t have ANYTHING.

Can we please fix this?!

Note: Good to know 6 years later they still haven’t even fixed it completely. Although my season 1 and 2 have populated metadata fine.

I would suggest to use the folder name " Digimon Digital Monsters (1999)".

If you search thetvdb, is gives you eight results for “digimon”, so specifying the year probably helps. Any special characters I would just leave out.

Tried, same thing. Keeps reverting to “Digimon Adventures”. It is literally matched to “Digimon: Digital Monsters” and I’ve matched it to that one by TVDB ID, searches, automatic searches etc. Nothing works. Always reverts. Same with The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, it does not read in the proper TVDB metadata even though it is linked directly to it also by ID and other ways.

Not sure if this applies or has already been suggested, didn’t bother reading all the way back up the chain… But have you tried this?

Make sure Local Media Assets is the last one in the list, and retry…

Still same issue, first two season recognized, seasons 3-5 are not. Also this time it did keep the name as “Digimon: Digital Monsters” so that’s a little better.

Works for me:

Used the naming that I suggested.

Now that it’s doing that, do the Plex Dance: The Plex Dance ™

You only tried one season… Season 1 and 2 work flawless for me. 3-5 do not.

Right, S05E01 doesn’t load Metadata. Dunno what is wrong then…

Just so you guys both know, TVDB is also having an issue right now, planned maintenance:

Warning: Site Maintenance In Progress

We are currently doing planned maintenance on the site. Any changes you may have made prior to midnight 11/13/19 may need to be re-entered.

Hmm, could be it. I am attempting the Plex Dance right now, waiting for bundles to clean.

I just had Babylon 5 Season 5, eps 13 thru 22 fail miserably with… wait for it… FileBot!

TVDB has major flooding in the engine room and is going down by the stern…

Abandon Ship!
(wait - there’s nowhere to go)

Do you suggest a better alternative?

There is no better idea at the moment unfortunately… just wait till the maintenance passes and try again if the Plex Dance doesn’t fix it… They’ve been trying to upgrade their database for like 6-8 weeks now and it just bites the big one every time they do…

There is no alternative, Buddy… no life rafts… no deck chairs… we just get a trumpet and a song list. Play on bravely until you have to swim for it.

Check TMDB to see if your show is listed, but that option is probably more bleak than just waiting it out.

Now that i’ve looked at TMDB, it looks like it is pulling from there and not even TVDB. I wonder because of maintenance or whatever, if it starts with TVDB and then just says F*#K it and uses TMDB…Well, I’ll have to rename all of my files to match TMDB but I think maybe that will fix the issues. They will just be formatted slightly different.

Will Update when I get it done.

Breaking News:

Maintenance began at midnight. Not sure what day…lol

Yeah @JasonNalley showed us that.

Should I wait for their maintenance to end or just go with TMDB for these two problem shows?

I’d wait.

TMDB could be instant gratification, or it could be more trouble than it’s worth and I lean toward the latter.
