TVDB Metadata not loading

Plex Media Server Logs_2020-03-14_13-41-16.zip (2.9 MB)
I haven’t updated anything since i last added content three days ago. I have tried the Plex Dance and removing the TVDB cache folder. The Plex Status page shows no issues so I’m assuming the inability to match anything on TVDB is local to me? Could I please get some assistance with my logs to ascertain?

Looks like there are slow or down tvdb2.plex.tv
See com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb.log

Thanks @Mikhail_Grednev, I take it we just wait for TVDB issue to resolve?

I’m seeing the same problem. I get an error telling me I’m not authorized when I try hitting tvdb2.plex.tv.

Same here

Hate to say it, but same here… TVDB isn’t loading metadata, or partial metadata, and does take really long time. The IMDB for my movies loaded just fine, shows are a freaking mess. Any update from plex? Has anyone confirmed this is a TVDB issue?

Seems like the issue has been identified several days back, and hasn’t yet been fixed. What would be an alternative? IMDB?

My plex Is just going absolutely wacko. First posters not working, which thanks to the above posters suggestion, I kind of fixed with the fixmatch thing, but then I add a few more shows and suddenly Plex starts separating 90% of my shows into individual seasons rather than putting all the seasons under the one show name they used to be under. madness. and really annoying.

I understand all this, and do realise that not all my seasons of shows are under the strict naming conditions needed for Plex, however I’ve been doing it this way for months now without any problems. It did not separate for instance Mr Robot S01 from Robot2 for example as these individual seasons were still under the name MR ROBOT.

edit: its magically gone back to normal. after closing and reopening. I love plex but it can be so irriating sometimes.

This is my first post so thank you to all the highly technical people who know how to check these things. Like others here, my Plex server stopped updating Metadata even though it was saying it matched. My filebot started erroring when pulling info from TheTVDB about a month ago so I have been forced to using TVMaze. Now it seems they are having uses with Plex, Kobi and other apps pulling from them as well. I guess we will all need to be patient.

TVDB should have been open-sourced years ago… That project has gotten too big for its own good. Now everyone is paying the price.

you accuse people of not having directories and episodes named correctly. but what if we do? all my other shows have pulled just fine back when I added them. I just added Cosmos Possible Worlds and it won’t pull any information. in my logs, I see:

So, I don’t think you are correct. I’ve been using Plex for years. Today it is broken. Whether it’s Plex or it’s TVDB idk, but something is broke.

Yeah none of my shows are pulling in; some partial metadata here and there, but overall, TVDB API is down hard, and has been having issues for days (based on forums)! There doesn’t seem to be any urgency in fixing the issue, and we might be dark for a while.

TVDB needs to allow services like KODI or Plex to mirror or cache their data; reliance on a single source is counter intuitive and creates issues like this.

Funny how there is accusation of wrong file naming nonsense constantly. In this instance, I can pull a match for a new show, but it never gets any metadata.

The comment about file naming was a response to a separate issue raised in this thread (shows being incorrectly separated into individual seasons). File naming is definitely important for that sort of issue. And for proper matching, in general.

So, I did what you said, deleted my whole Plex library and started renaming everything correctly.

PLEX > TV SHOWS > 12 MONKEYS > SEASON ONE > 12 MONKEYS.S01E01 etc.
PLEX > TV SHOWS > 12 MONKEYS > SEASON TWO > 12 MONKEYS.S02E01 ETC.

they’re still uploading into individual seasons even though they should be contained under the 12 Monkeys header. not only that but they’re now uploading in whatever order they feel like. season four first, followed by one etc. oh wait, now one of them has decided to rename itself ‘the season of fate’ whatever the hell that is.

what a sh* show.

TV shows are by season…

Your library should have the folder TV Shows
Under TV Shows you have each of your shows as in 12 Monkeys.
each show has a season even if it’s only season 1

TV Shows/
12 Monkeys/
Season 1/
12 Monkeys S01E01.mp4
12 Monkeys S01E02.mkv
Season 2/
12 Monkeys S02E01.mp4
12 Monkeys S02E01.eng.srt
12 Monkeys S02E01-thumb.jpg
12 Monkeys S02E02.mkv

Next Show/
Season 1

Yes, thats how it used to be. When i clicked on my library it had each show, with a poster, underneath would be a show name and under that would be the collective number of seasons. Clicking on that show then took me to each season which in turn housed each seasons episodes.

Now when I upload a show, the seasons are no longer contained together behind what should be just the shows name and poster. They’re all out of that now on my library homepage. I do not want this. I don’t want each Season to have its own slot on my initial library page.
