For the life of me, I found what my problem was with adding this TV series. I already had the original Spartacus TV series so I think that’s why PMS wouldn’t add this “Gods of the Arena” spinoff. Now, I did move the original Spartacus folder to a different disk. I’ve been trying to add this “Gods of the Arena” to no avail PMS insists it is the original Spartacus. For those who would suggest the naming of the folder structure, here is what I tried last:
Gods of the Arena (2011)
— Season 01
------ GODS of the ARENA (2011)-s01e01-Past Transgressions.mkv
------ GODS of the ARENA (2011)-s01e02-Missio.mkv
------ GODS of the ARENA (2011)-s01e03-Paterfamilias.mkv
------ GODS of the ARENA (2011)-s01e04-Beneath the Mask.mkv
------ GODS of the ARENA (2011)-s01e05-Reckoning.mkv
------ GODS of the ARENA (2011)-s01e06-The Bitter End.mkv
What else can I do?
You know, I’ve been on the fence to get the premium subscription but each time I get close to buy it, I’m facing one of those little friggin’ problems that erode my confidence in Plex. It is so annoying and time consuming. Why can’t I have additional agents that are smarter than the default and only “Plex TV Series” (sic)?
Update: now, after renaming each episode, Plex will not match or offer to unmatch. Weird…
That means you need this to be under Spartacus (2010) and then under either a Specials or Season 00 folder. You’ll also want to rename your files to “Spartacus (2010)-s00e01-Past Transgressions.mkv” (using the first episode as an example).
After you do that, it should find the series and metadata info without issue.
You’ll probably want to do the Plex dance before adding the series back.
Remove all the related files from any directory Plex is monitoring, scan the library, empty trash and clean bundles (the bundles part might not be necessary) and then you can add the files back.
