Long story short, a file in a series was labeled differently, so Plex was assuming episode 135 was the only episode. I deleted the series from the library so I could fix it and re-add it.
Now nothing I do lets it re-add the series with the file name fixed.
I’ve moved the folder, changed the name, moved it again, renamed some episodes to see if that lets it find at least those. Nothing. I just can’t get Plex to add the library
For the show I’m trying to re-add, it’s just a single file with every episode in it, named /(showname)(Episode#)(uploadercredits)
As far as I can tell, since Plex did sort one episode of the show, I think when I deleted it it may have made Plex just ignore that show when searching? Because I even changed the folder name, changed 12 episode names, and moved the whole thing to another drive, and it still won’t find it
So it’s a single folder containing all 146 episodes, with each episode labeled "/HunterxHunter_XXX_[bunch of uploader info]
When I first added it to my library episode 136 was labeled “HunterxHunter_136v2” and Plex seemed to identify that episode, and because it was labeled differently it thought it was the only one. I renamed the episode to match the rest, but Plex refuses to find the series at all now. I even moved the folder to another drive, renamed it, and selected that folder specifically. It really just seems like deleting the series made Plex ignore any media that matches that series.
even if you only have one season you need to name them correctly so plex recognizes it as a TV show. TV libraries intentionally ignore things without proper notation. It will try at times but will mostly fail if not what it is expecting. it is expecting an S01E123
If you want to stick them all in one folder and treat them like they are one season you still should call them season 01
TV shows/Hunter X Hunter/Hunter X Hunter S01E123 whatever.mkv
if you really don’t want to add the S01 you might get away with
TV shows/Hunter X Hunter/Season 01/Hunter X Hunter 123 whatever.mkv
I don’t watch anime but i think there is a third party anime scanner called Hama or something like that which is more designed to look at absolute ordering with no seasons i think
