Can't grant access to additional Plex server

Server Version#: 1.41.9.9961
Player Version#: 4.147.1
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

I’m in the process of moving my Plex server from a Synology NAS to a Mac Mini.

I’ve configured up the server as a new server, with a new name, and logged into my account. Adding media again that’s still hosted on the NAS has gone okay. In settings I can see both servers with a green lock against them.

The problem is only I (as the admin) have access to the new libraries. If I try and grant access to the existing Home users, it only shows the old server/libraries, not the new ones.

Bit stuck in what is something I’m missing. Any help would be appreciated.

Stop and restart the new server.
Then reload the hosted web app in your web browser.

Keep in mind that you don’t need to invite these users again.
You only click on each user name in here https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/plex-home to edit their access permissions.

I’ve restarted the server and reloaded the web app a few times now.

When I click the user in that link, it only shows the old server and when I click edit, I don’t get the option for the new one, only the old.

Are you sure that you stopped and restarted the new server?
It appears that your new server still has no libraries on it.
And stop and restart is supposed to fix that. Ensure that internet access is working. Connection to plex.tv is required.

If that still doesn’t do anything, keep the new server running over night, through a server maintenance period.

A restart just worked for me!

Had the same issue after creating a new docker-based Plex server. I wasn’t able to share access to existing friends, but I could access the media from my admin account.

Restarting my container/server and the web app meant that I was able to share libraries from my new server using the “Manage Library Access” section in the settings.

I restarted the whole server. Is there a restart process over and above that?

For the web app, that’s just closing and re-opening it in the browser isn’t it?

The server is scanning one of the libraries for detecting titles and credits so don’t want to disturb it at the moment. It will be finished in an hour or so I think. Once done I will restart.

I believe it’s been through a maintenance window as the problem has existed since yesterday.

A restart of the whole machine is probably not necessary. Stopping Plex server using the task tray (or whatever it is called on MacOS) is probably enough.

No. Using “Reload web page” in your web browser should invalidate any cached data and force a reload from plex.tv.

Restarting the server and the web client has fixed it.

Thanks very much for the prompt help.
