Hi All,

I updated my windows from 7 home professional to windows 7 Ultimate edition. I tried to install plex and it got stuck at Visual C++ 2015. I deleted all C++ programs and installed the latest Visual C++ 2017 package. Installer still stuck on C++ section of install. Very frustrating.

Every windows update except the language packs has been installed as well.

You might wanna think about upgrading to Windows 10 instead. Because Windows 7 will be history at the end of February 2020.

Yeah thats something I can deal with in the future when I decide if I want to make that switch, I only upgraded this so I could make use of the additional ram I installed.

Out of the back of my head,
you also need to install “Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7” and Windows Media Player must not be disabled.
Install all available Windows Updates, which involves several reboots and repeated attempts at finding available updates.

Tip: you can use your Windows 7 installation key for activating Windows 10, for the time being. MS might disable that at some point.
Just install W10 without a key and then type it in later when the activation prompt appears again.

IE 11 installed and windows media player is installed.

All updates are installed.

Another weird thing is that I run the plex installer once and it gets stuck on the Visual C++ but I can cancel the install… Then when I try to run it again, it just freezes right at the start of the install and wont let me try again until I reboot.
