Subtitle can’t load/display external subtitle on iOS/iOS beta, one of my friend said it also happened on his Apple TV. And, if once I choose media internal subtitle, it works fine. (Set Burn sub as ‘Always’ could fix it but my server is not that powerful to handle transcode, so its not a good solution).
Even, some of media would load internal subtitle after I click play, while I choose external sub on media info page.
Same media with external subtitle could work well on macOS and web.
About sub file, I tried ass and srt format, file encoding already set as UTF-8.
Here is part of logs of my device & server. Plex Log.zip (34.5 KB)
I checked the log file, and found some thing, but I don’t know what caused the issue:
2022/11/26 12:45:19.072 (188 MB) (9045603) ❌ PMKMPVClient.m:496 | [cplayer] error: Can not open external file ...
can anyone help me on this? I don’t know if its my server error or its a software bug, I think its my now problem? cuz looks like I’m the only one who care on this. but whatever where the problem is, I just hope anyone could help me or, try to help me. I really don’t know what I can do. I tried test in many of ways, such as change server version, public and beta version of iOS, different media file, different subtle and different subtitle format.
I also tried to burn in the external subtitle which is unable to display, after I burn it into mkv, it could display very well, it just can not work as external file. but, there’s to much media was work with external file, I couldn’t do the same for all of them…
(btw, there’s more try. I was thought it’s an internet problem, because I used nginx to proxy Plex, so I tried to directly connect my server with ip:port, but it didn’t fix the problem, external subtitle still can not show up).
