Can't locate LAN plex server

Running Plex on a WD PR-2100, after assisting someone with setup, I can no longer see my server.

Nothing makes any sense, no major changes, DNS is the same, I can ping the server, uninstalled the app and reinstalled it on the WD, i’m about out of options, does anyone see something I don’t? Grateful for a look!

Except, I can’t cut and paste the logs because i’m limited to 2 links LoL….

I don’t see a way to link a text file but I can provide it via email (mhensley3430@gmail.com)!!

Hey there, hopefully we can get you up and running again.
Check out the website article on Unable to connect to the server.
Let us know what you try and what works.

You can also search the articles for “can’t connect” and get a lot more if you like.

Thanks for the reply, this one has me stumped (and I do this for a living LoL)

I ended up creating a whole new plex account and was in the process of factory restoring my NAS to set it up all over again.

If you get a second, can you take a look?

Mike

plex.txt (48.7 KB)

plex2.txt (42.6 KB)

Were you limited by the forum on attachments?

Please describe your network topology. I see two subnets in your log.

Can you SSH into the Western Digital where PMS is located?
Does it have a Preferences.xml file you can zip and upload?

When you try to connect, it says unauthorized (401 error) for one IP,
then it tries another it knows about, and it just gets unavailable, as versus a 401.

Those failures are repeated until it gives up on any LAN connections.
I linked an article above. What steps did you take and what did you see?

Thanks for the reply!

TARA-PLEX was a friends server I was helping get setup for her.

My segment is the 192.168.1.X

The WD sits at 192.168.1.5, but I can’t get it to accept a connection.

I just killed my old plex account and created a new one, my plan was to re-install it this evening from the new account versus the old one.

I see the “Unauthorized” and assumed my plex account had somehow become unlinked from the server, what is your experience with that error?

Mike

I was hoping it was covered in the docs xD

https://support.plex.tv/articles/?s=unauthorized&search=support_articles

You’re headed down the right path. Something about your devices, plex.tv, logins.
Maybe as easy as signing out of everything, then back in the correct order.

You might also check the articles for Western Digital, or maybe its general type.

Neither of the articles apply because it doesn’t have an OS I can access, it’s on a WD-PR2100, there must be something holding those preference files because I still can’t connect to the server with the new account.

I’m currently copying all the media over (6 TB) after which I’ll format the drives and restore to original.

Ugh

Mike

Oh well. I couldn’t find enough to add much about the WD NAS.
Good luck on your reinstall.

Enable SSH and use winscp or so to delete the /shares/Volume_1/Nas_Prog/plex_config directory. Then reinstall plex server in the WD web interface.
