Can't Locate Server Anymore on Host PC, or Option To Claim It.

Have always run smoothly for a year until the server was deleted from the ‘devices’ list. Haven’t been able to locate it ever since. After multiple sign outs on localhost and plex.tv and reinstalls, still seeing the “searching for server” main page.

Tried some troubleshooting based on these forums to no luck. From removing all other devices from the list off the account, to windows or router settings.
The server loads up and shows up like a DNLA should, and plays on my smart TV and other players. It still picks up new added content like normal…

Problem is that I can’t get plex server to show up anymore to change server settings and all my authorized devices were removed while troubleshooting. Haven’t ever seen the option to claim an existing server that many should’ve seen with my situation… Anyone aware of a fix or can help me get back in?

This made the login token of the server invalid. It is now no longer connected to your plex.tv account.

Log ‘OUT’ from the web app

If that doesn’t help, perform this procedure:
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204281528-Why-am-I-locked-out-of-Server-Settings-and-how-do-I-get-in-

Same position here. Have tried everything.

Reinstalled Plex
removed the plex library and reinstalled from scratch.
logged out from all locations.
Did all of the above in different orders
did the above (or at least tried, but the lines are not in the preferences file anymore, as I started from scratch. now the old plex folder can’t be used anymore. when I try that, plex on my synology can’t start anymore…

No solution so far. I can log in to the localip:32400 (only http, not https). There I only see the server of a friend.

Al started when I removed (not knowing what would happen…) the server from devices. Now I can’t get it back. any help or pointers?

You must do all the steps in exactly the noted order.

I cannot help you with Synology-specific issues. You may have better luck asking in here: https://forums.plex.tv/categories/synology

If you see the Plex server of a friend, you did not log out from the web app, like the above linked guide requires you to do.

thanks for your reply.

did all in the exact order as mentioned above, and a couple of other times in different order. nothing worked. will do it again in the exact mentioned order just to be sure

will try in the synology forum thanks.

I logged out, It then asks me to logg back in. At that point I see only my freinds server. should I not see him at that point?

After logging out of the Web App, you shoudl not see any servers, until you also did the steps in the server configuration to remove the old plex.tv account information from it.

But of course, I don’t know what you did on your NAS box, so it may be as well that your Plex server is not running at all.

yes it is running.
after logging out it just shows me the plex login screen

I just re-installed the complete system, and now in the preferences file the mentioned tokes can not be found… any ideas? or could this be synology specific?

This is the “hardware transcoder preview” version of Plex.
Whenever an unofficial “preview” version doesn’t work as expected, go back to an official release.
How to do that on your Syno, I cannot tell you. Please ask in the Syno fourm.

Also did that. completely di-installed Plex (revomed all the files and the setting folder), Tried both the 1.8.0 and the 1.7.5… no avail yet. Will be home again in a couple of days and try it again with full access to the system…

Ok. For anybody looking at this issue as well. You can not do this remotely (re-install plex) you need to be in the same network. VPN also does not work unfortunately, which was wat I tried.

Getting home and trying it again gave immediate success.

Used this: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202485658-Restore-a-Database-Backed-Up-via-Scheduled-Tasks-
to get the viewed statuses back after doing a clean install.

You will also see other servers but not your own if your plex server thinks you are not a local address.

In my case, a different netmask was enough to cause the same problem.
You can use an SSH tunnel so the plex server only sees a connection from localhost.
