Deleted Plex Server from Authorized Devices on accident

Server Version#:1.23.2.4656-6000
Player Version#:4.57.4

So I accidently deleted the server from the authorized devices. Now im trying to add the server back. I followed this guide Deleted Plex Server off authorized devices and don't know how to get it back or a server period. HELP! - #13 by Quentame . I believe i did everything correctly. However when i go to start the server, and login. i do not see an option to claim a server. on top of it, i also dont see an option to build a server from scratch (adding directories). Any help would be great, thank you!

There’s no need to delete any preferences. By deleting your server from the list of authorized devices, Plex is logging it out, therefore it’s no longer connected to your account.

Make sure to access the server from within its local network and through its local IP address:
http://[Synology NAS IP address]:32400

Check out Settings > [Server Name] > General to find the option to sign back into the server and thereby linking it to your account.

thanks for a quick reply. I did access the server from within the network. after logging in, I clicked on settings. From there, I do not see a ‘server name’ link under settings

If I may add here?

On DSM 6,

  1. Stop Plex

  2. Install the Synology Text Editor app

  3. Open FileStation

  4. Navigate - Plex / Library / Application Support / Plex Media Server

  5. Right-Click “Preferences.xml” → Open in Text Editor

  6. Carefully remove the Name="Value" pairs for

  • PlexOnlineUsername
  • PlexOnlineEmail
  • PlexOnlineToken
  • PlexOnlineHome (this might not exist)
  1. Save the file

  2. Start Plex

  3. Sign out of Plex / web (upper right corner)

  4. Open an incognito window to the LAN IP of the Synology

  5. It will want you to sign in and claim the NAS again. Do so .

  6. There will be a delay while Plex/Web, PMS, and Plex.tv all negotiate and update credentials.

  7. When it returns, your server will be claimed again (signed in)

  8. No other settings will have been lost.

On DSM 7, there is a button built into the installer to handle this for you.
