since a few days I have trouble to sign in with my account. The apps are working, but when I’m opening plex.tv in a browser I am prompted to log in. Despite the correct password, neither my nickname nor my e-mail address is working. The only way to log in is to reset my password, after setting a new password I’m automatically logged in. This is how I got here. If I log out and try to sign in again after reset the problem still remains…

I’d check for browser extensions like NoScript, AdBlock, FlashBlock, LastPass etc.
Basically, you want to disable all of them / allow scripts from all plex-related domains.

I didn’t reply since it worked for a while and I couldn’t figure out the cause of the login failure.
The login works on my desktop, all Plex apps and Dreamplex. It doesn’t work on my Android phone and tablet if I try to login via browser. (Sometimes I have to, e.g. to match media data.) Password and username / e-mail are definitely correct. I get “Invalid e-mail address, username or password”. I’m using Chrome mobile browser on unrooted Android, so no Adblock, NoScript etc is interfering.

Are your entering your email or password using the auto-complete feature. This will sometimes add an extra space to the end which will make the login incorrect. Try typing it in manually or double check and back space afterwards to make sure there are no spaces.
I’m using LastPass, which automatically enters name and password, also tried it manually… noch chance 
Disable Lastpass on the app.plex.tv website and on the domain *.plex.direct and the local private IP address of your plex server as well.
Last Pass injects code into other websites, causing interference.
To clarify, it only happens on my android devices. On my laptop it works fine (with the LastPass add-on). On Android, the LastPass app only can fill forms when I’m using the LastPass app for it to do so. I just tried to login with Firefox on my tablet (entered name and password manually), still unable to login. It doesn’t make sense at all.
I’m happy the login works with the plex apps and on my laptop. That covers 95% of my needs, but when i want to quickly change s.th. (media data etc.) I need access via browser on my android devices…
I asked a few developers and they checked on a variety of Android phones and all could login.
I am still somehow of the opinion this has to do with the LastPass app.
Here is a new finding: A fellow Ninja reports this:
“re the lastpass stuff - I had this issue last week, but it’s not happening now. I use lastpass, and all it does is use the screen overlay stuff to read the fields and autopopulates them. It doesn’t inject JS or anything. Like I said it’s not happening to me any more, but when it was it appeared to be more a caching issue (I was actually logged in, it just was showing that I wasn’t).”
So maybe this is also true for your woes. Try a Reload or try to clear the browser cache.
Unfortunately I don’t use Android so I can’t advise more detailed.
It’s not the LastPass app. I removed it from my tablet and tried to login with chrome and firefox mobile. Both times with same error. I’m giving up here. I can live with it since i can login with a browser on my laptop.
