Can't Open Plex Anymore

Hi… Plex has stopped opening. The icon shows in the task bar, but it looks minimized. I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it. I has trouble installing it and had to run as administrator. And it;s the same thing. Plex Server is fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See Suddenly black window - plex unsuable - #5 by FordGuy61.

No need to install or run as Administrator.

The icon in the task tray belongs to the Plex media server.
A double click on it should open your default web browser with the local Plex web app. (Unless you somehow don’t have a default web browser set. In which case you’ll want to bookmark http://127.0.0.1:32400/web )
See Important note about the Plex Web app - Local Network Access for an additional point.

The Plex Player for Windows is a separate app and is downloaded and installed separately. I’m just mentioning it because you have tagged this post with it.

Did you use to have another screen where the app was running on? It remembers which screen and will try that screen again, even if it is no longer connected.

Right click on the icon, select move, then use the left or right arrow keys to move the window so you can see it on the screen then you can move it with the mouse.

Hi….

None of the suggestions worked unfortunatley, so I have reverted to using the web-based version instead of the Windows based version.

Thanks!

Greg

Delete the configuration folder of the player. You’ll find it here:
C:\Users\<YourWindowsUsername>\AppData\Local\Plex
(careful: the folder name is just Plex and NOT Plex Media Server!)
