Cant play a Movie on FireStick 4k MAX

A fix for this should be in the current Android TV beta 10.17.0.805 which should be released to the production app in a week or 2.

I’m currently on server 1.40.4 and Plex app 10.18.0.968 not sure when it updated but I can watch any movies on my fire TV 4k …started happening few days ago, maybe a week top. Just spins randomly going back few seconds in video, and then again after short time watching fully crashes the play with video pause and sound still continuing or just stops with playback error.

ā€œAn error occured while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.ā€

Also when subtitles are on (.srt locally) movie reloads and makes subtitles big big, then again after short while, usual crash.

Any ideas please?

This issue was there before year or more ago. Of course after a while was fixed with the update.

This does happen on older fire TV sticks non 4k ones

Looks like it’s affecting .MP4 H264 4.0-4.1 videos with AAC sound as .mkv with ac3 plays fine (all direct play)

Would you be able to share a sample file and your fire tv logs please?

Plex Media Server.1.log (5.2 MB)

@tarnecki Those are the incorrect logs I need the client logs which you can get using the link here Fire TV logs, and I will require a file to try reproduce the issue.

I’m waiting for crash but from what I’ve noticed, not sure you you changed anything. Since today, Instead of direct play, 4k fire TV max now transcodes 1080p MP4???
