Can't Play Movies from the Start on Samsung TV

Hello,

I am experiencing a problem with all the content inside the libraries identified as ‘Movies’. When I select an item to play, I receive the following error:

“Unable to connect to the content server”

I cannot start any movie on the TV app, irrespective of what I do. The workaround is to start the movie in another device (phone, tablet, PC), stop it after a while, go back to the TV and play it. Then I get the option to “Resume video from X:XX” or “Start from the beginning”; both options play wonderfully from this moment onwards.

So again, for items inside libraries identified as movies (not TV shows, not own videos, not music, only movies), I cannot play content from the start.

Does anybody know any way to fix this issue?

My details below (though I have had this issue for months now, so it would appear not to be a new server / player issue):

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112
Player Version#: 2.013
TV: Samsung UE50F5500 (F-Series 2013)

It sounds like you are using the Orca Plex app for Samsung which last I knew was no longer supported or developed. My best suggestion would be to get a cheap solution like a Roku and plug that into your older Samsung TV and use that for Plex. You will get lots of new features and it is currently being supported and developed. I know probably not the answer you wanted to hear but I think that is your best step forward.

you are right on both counts: 1) I am using the Orca Plex app for Samsung, and 2) it is not the answer I wanted to hear :upside_down_face:

I was unaware that support for such app had been discontinued. If that is the case, not much I can do about it.

Am guessing that your server is set to not allow unsecure connections. Change that and try

Sister in law has orca app and it still works

Yes, it was set to not allow unsecure connections but, after changing it, it continues to behave the same way.

That’s OK I guess, It’s just for the movies, and the workaround works.
