Can't record full program if split by another program

I have tried to record a film which is split in two by another short program - and only the first part gets recorded.
When I select it to record in the Guide both parts are selected.
However, if I look at the DVR Schedule only the first part is shown. There seems to be no way to add the second part as the Guide shows recording as scheduled already.

The log shows no errors and only the first part is recorded.

Is this a known issue that is being addressed?
Is there a way around this?

I’m running Plex server version 1.18.6.2368 on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS

This is an issue that has been going on for a long time

The only way to get around it is to use the padding feature

When setting the recording, go into the advanced options and put a high value in the ‘Minutes after recording’

So if the first part is 60 mins
Then a 10 min other show
Then the second part of the movie (eg another 60 mins)

Set the minutes after recording to something over 70

If that makes sense

The reason it ignores the 2nd part, is that it has the same info as the 1st part, so Plex thinks it’s a duplicate and ignores it

Thanks for the quick reply - and the work-around. I looked for similar issues but didn’t find any.

I was impressed that the Guide worked out that it was part of the same program - so I guessed that if the Guide was clever enough then the recording schedule would be identified correctly.
Ironically, if the Guide was less clever, and the second part was not marked as scheduled I may have been able to mark it manually - who knows.
