Is there a way to record a movie where on the EPG guide it is shows as two separate parts?
Some times in the UK movies (usually on ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4) are split into two parts with a short news update in the middle.
The problem is that the Live TV DVR will only record either the first or the second part (but not both) meaning you end up recording only one part of the movie.

You need to set it so, that both original airings and re-broadcasts are recorded. (in the properties of the recording job)
This will give you all parts, even though they appear in your library most likely as “versions” of the same item. (Pretty much every Plex client allows you to select the version to watch.)
But at least you can later either watch and delete them,
or crop them and combine them into one file for adding to your personal library.

I ask as I am unable to “set it so, that both original airings and re-broadcasts are recorded.”, when I select one part to be recorded I am then unable to separately set the second part to be recorded, plex does not allow both part (with the same name) to be set to be recorded, otherwise (and of course) I would have done this already.

Your link is dead… it does not work.
Also in my experiece when selecting a movie to be recorded "record only new airings” is not an option, (in my experience) this option is only availble when recording a TV Programmes which is part of a series.

You are right. I misremembered, sorry about that!
Then you must schedule the first part and then use “Minutes after end” to extend the recording time of that first part to include both the intermission and the second part.
Thanks for the help but I dont think your suggestions works. Note that from a client box the maximum “mins after” is 60 which is not enough as you have a show in the middle.
The only way that I can see that this could be done is via the Plex web interface (plex client box software does not allow it) is that when you select the recording, then manually add say 120 mins to the end of the recording, you must manually type in the numbers into the box.
But this is not a very good option as:
a) it only works if you access the web interface via a browser / does not work on a cleint box
b) you end up recording with a programme recorded in the middle.of the movie.
c) if the second part is much later (or the next day) then this is totally impractical.
d) it is super inconvenient
Any chance we could have a “parts” option added to the movies record settinngs - a bit like series link.
