Plex Media Server was running just fine on my laptop, but it was filling my hard drive up! Couldn’t find what was filling my drive up until I checked PMS. It was over 16 GB!!! I couldn’t figure out what was safe to delete, so I followed your uninstall directions and completely uninstalled Plex Media Server from my laptop. I then downloaded the latest installation file and attempted to reinstall the program, but even though the program runs to completion, very few if any installation files get installed, and the server won’t launch or run! I checked the PF directory and it didn’t even create a Plex folder anywhere! So I tried to install it on my wife’s desktop, which has never had Plex Media Server installed on it, and it did the same thing there! The installation program runs to completion, but Plex Media Server won’t launch or run, and there is no Plex folder created anywhere on the computer! Please check your latest installation program you have available for download. It does not appear to work!
If it happens on a second computer, please download the installation .exe again. Maybe using a different web browser.
I’d also check if the antivirus is interfering. (you and your wife might be using the same anti virus)
I downloaded it from a different browser and completely disabled bitdefender anti-virus on the computer, rebooted, and then tried to reinstall PMS. Same results! The installation program seems to run and complete to the Launch window, but the media server will not launch! No Plex start folder is created, and no Plex folders are created anywhere on the hard drive that I can find anywhere! I then checked the registry and there is no key or data for PMS anywhere in the registry! Either the installation program has problems, or there is something else, other than anti-virus, on my system that is keeping Plex Media Server from being reinstalled.
Did you use Revo Uninstaller or similar software to uninstall Plex?
Or perhaps some ‘Registry optimizer’, like the one in CCleaner?
Yes, I used Iobit Uninstaller to uninstall it, and I have their Advanced System Care Pro installed, which has a registry “cleaner” built into it.
That is not good. You should avoid software like that. In many cases it makes thing worse.
It caused your current issue.
So, is there a solution burried in there somewhere?
