I recently had a secondary hard drive failure (Plex Media Server was installed on the secondary SSD). I used the windows uninstall troubleshooter to remove it and reinstalled Plex on another secondary drive. It would not start.
I uninstalled, redownloaded, and reinstalled and still it would not start (No tray icon, the exe was running, but no logs were being generated in the local appdata).
Finally, I uninstalled, manually removed the whole “Plex, Inc.” folder in my registry, removed the appdata Plex folder, redownloaded, and reinstalled. When running, the server, the registry folder was recreated with only one key “SetupLanguageCode”. The appdata folder was not recreated.
