Can't Remove Old Server

Hey @ChuckPa , I’m a Plex pass lifetime user and I also have issues with a ghost server, some of my Plex home users still see it shown, and it’s making the app utterly laggy or just unusable, depending on the user and client. It’s a server on an old local IP (192.x.x.x I think), same name (nas***tte) as the one that works fine with another local IP (10.x).

I hope you will be able to help, but I find it a bit crazy to see there is no apparently way for us to easily clean this without having to ask on a public forum.

Thanks for your help!

@ChuckPa I am also having this issue, it has been happening for quite a long time. Can you help remove mine? It is the server name to that starts with a K.

Thank you!!

@Kayoti

I found two servers and removed them.

Only the Box exists now (“There can be only one!” lol )

Please force refresh (control + F5 browsers and hard terminate & restart other player apps)

Let me know

Thank you thank you thank you. This has been really annoying, I’d occasionally try to fix it myself but nothing seemed to stick. What was the issue so I can avoid doing it in the future?

BOOKMARK THIS URL

https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms

It’s the shortcut to managing any server instances on your account.

when you go there, you can REMOVE the old junk.

If, after removing , and refreshing the browser, an entry persists,
Please reach out to me. I’ll get the big :hammer_and_pick:

Hey @ChuckPa , it looks like I am still seeing a pesky server that just won’t die! The only place with the issue remaining is my SHIELD TV. I have deleted all data and cache, removed the app from the device, rebooted, and reinstalled the app. But when I log in and select one of our family’s profiles, it still says “Choose your Preferred Server” K—– (DELETE THIS ONE) or the Box (KEEP THIS ONE).

It’s really strange that it just won’t go away on this device. Do you have any other ideas? Thanks again :wink:

Another idea.

To clear app cache on an NVIDIA Shield,

  • Go to Settings,
  • Select Apps - then See all apps
  • Choose the specific app you want to clear, (If it’s still listed – shouldn’t be)
  • Select Clear cache

For all temporary data, you can also go to Settings > Device Preferences > Storage > Internal shared storage and select Cached data to clear it.

This is a bit bigger hammer but will clear the caches

I also have been having this issue for several years. I looked into it, years ago. Told to delete devices, I did. Nothing changed. It hasn’t really bothered me, and I forgot about it until I was setting up my sisters new tv. She is an invited account and was asked to select servers that I removed years ago.

There is only one server in my authorized devices. I went a head a logged out of my TV and when I logged back on. I was presented with my old server, an old server my friend had that I left long ago, and my current server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Correction… I did not leave my friends old server. However, I just left it. I just tried to log into a new client and was presented with my old and current server.

I am in the process of rebuilding my server. Can you please delete all the servers shown on my account. Old servers show up on my account. Thank you.

Please check your list of Authorized Devices and remove any undesired servers: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms.

It’s crazy, but this old server “Kayoti” is still around. Whenever I log in to a fresh install of the app (cleared cache and data) on Shield, Google TV, my Phone (android), it always appears. I select a user, and then it asks me to select my primary server. What’s even more crazy, is if I select Kayoti server (which was on an entirely different PC, it no longer is plugged in), I can play content from it. I really don’t understand what’s happening and why I can’t purge it.

@Kayoti

  1. I again verified B****x is the only server listed on your account (this email you use for the forums… fast************
  2. Did you Clear the Android Cache?
  3. Next, did you force terminate or even uninstall-reboot-reinstall the app?

Hi, I also have an old server on my account that does not appear in authorized devices. I’ve tried with ChatGPT and it was great navigating me through the self-service API but it appears the functionality to remove servers has been deprecated. The only solution seems to be removal by a Plex staffer. Can it be removed from my account please? The server name starts “Cho"…”. Thanks in advance!

Hello @ChuckPa - If you could assist with removing an old server from my account also I would appreciate it. Confirming it does not show in Authorized Devices

It’s been offline for some time - but if you can discern by version - the PMS I want to keep has version 1.42.

I believe both are named the same.

@mitsumaui

I saw three servers. :rofl:

  1. Your current server (has 9 shares active – for confirmation)
  2. A duplicate (same name) from ages past
  3. What looked like an Xbox test server also from ages past

I removed the two ancient servers.

Thanks so much for your super quick reply!

Same issue. Trying to leave an old server I had access to. “C***na” is the server.

@iTzNiKo

Looking at your account, I see only server n****V on your account.

I see 5 servers shared with you.
