Plex Media server used to work fine on this computer, but for months now I haven’t been able to use it. When I tell it to open to takes me to a Safari web page. I try and log in and all I get is a “There was an error signing in” and I can’t get any further. Oddly, I do get emails telling me that a login happened, but the server isn’t running so I can’t access Plex from my AppleTV and other devices.
I’m a premium subscriber, but I’m going to cancel if I can’t get this working as right now Plex is useless. So dumb there’s no actual tech support for paid product.
Sounds like someone may have hacked your account, you should be able to reset your password to regain access. If you’re browser is giving you a hard time, try a different browser or incognito or private mode to gain access.
Not good news not being able to use Plex. Instead of using the menu bar or dock icon to open, i would suggest directly having a bookmark in your browser. Hope that works
Well, I wasn’t hacked, but your suggestion of trying private browsing mode inadvertently solved the problem!
I went to test that and discovered I was already in private mode – so I tried it normal mode and it logged right in! Sigh. I wish error messages were clearer. Just telling me “an error occurred” is utterly useless.
The bottom line is that the server doesn’t seem to work in incognito mode.
