Can't see some TV show files

Hi all, this is driving me mad. I have googled about and read a lot of different threads and done everything I can find, but I can’t fix it.

I am trying to add a new comedy show by a certain standup into my library. First one has been there ages and works fine. Adding 2nd one, and no matter what I try, “scan library” just won’t find it.

Am using naming format “Showname - se01e01 - Title.ext”.

Both files are in a folder called “Showname” under a folder called “TV Shows for Plex” which is my library folder.

Have reset permissions on the folders so Windows no longer asking for admin access to do anything.

Can anyone help walk me through diagnosing why this isn’t working?!

Must be Showname \ Season 01 \ Showname -s01e01 - Title.ext

Note in above two things:

  • A season folder
  • Its SxxEyy, not SExxEyy

If above doesn’t fix it, return with OS info of PMS, as well as a screendump of the files, from the root of your TV Library, and all the way down to the actual media
Also, of on Linux, do an ls -la on the media, and post the outcome

You are a genius! That seems to have worked. It is weird, as I have lots of other shows which do not follow this structure and follow what I was using and work fine! I thought it was just the file naming rather than the folder structure that mattered. I will now be stress testing this with adding some more stuff, so hope I will have no more issues…

I thought I had!! :dizzy_face:

One odd thing - I now have the two shows in two “Season” folders in Plex as expected, but when I mark the season 1 episode as “played”, it does the same for the season 2 episode. Any idea why that is?!

Hard to say, but could be due to an earlier mismatch

Do the Plex Dance on the entire show, then try and mark it again, and when doing the Plex Dance, follow all the steps!

Will be back if it goes wrong on lots more stuff I need to add, but thanks, you are the guru!!
