Can't set up plex media server, stuck on “Looking for Servers”

Server Version#:1.16.5.1552, but tried with the newest from plext.tv aswell.

Hi,
I Have DS716+II.

Before install I deleted Plex folder and Plex user from previous installs.
Than I installed plex media server on the synology from the package centre.
After that I added read/write permissions to plex user for plex shared folder.

Than I try open media server app or go to local_ip_address:32400/web/
But all time it shows “Looking for servers” on left top corner.

I really don’t know what esle to do. I would appreciate your help.

Is Local IP address in the range of 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16.x.x -> 172.31.x.x ?

No, it is 46.109.x.x

That’s why then.

PMS is coded to use RFC-1918 Private Networks for your internal (Local Network) IP addresses.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network

It will be infinitely easier if you orient your home network per the standard – BUT-- if you cant,

On the Synology:

  1. Control Panel - Terminal & SNMP - Enable SSH protocol
  2. Control Panel - Users - Enable the admin user AND give it a password you know.
  3. Obtain either Putty (for windows) or use SSH on Linux/macOS

The procedure is here. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288586-installation/

Scroll down to On a Different Network (it works for this situation too).

Putty examples are on the links below that.

This is independent, of course, from the WAN (Wide Area) IP your ISP provides.

Thanks a lot, it worked.
