Can't tune one specific channel using plex. HDhomerun prime app works fine

Player Version#: web client: 3.99.2

So trying to do DVR recording, and 99% of the time, it is fine, but I consistently have issues with recording from Disney channels or Nick channels. I am on comcast xfinity, in 98075. The real issue is that it isn’t consistent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I have seen this topic before, but from 2017, and it was said to be have fixed.

I am using an HDhomerun prime, 6 tuner (2X3 tuner version), and it is using the latest firmware.

If the DRM flag is set you can’t DVR the show.

Agreed, but the channel isn’t marked DRM. Or is it possible to set on a per-show basis? Or, how can i be certain it is DRM? Shouldn’t the logs tell me that?

Plex would have to answer if they write a message in the logs. It also looks like the cable card didn’t interrupt the show right away.

Using a browser you can check the tuner status on the HDHR to see if the DRM flag is set for that channel.

Confirmed that DRM is NOT set on the channel, and when tuning the channel, CCI isn’t on either. I can tune the channel with anything else, just not plex. Not even live TV works. I am wondering if it is an ffmpeg issue.

I’ve reported this problem before. No recent sign of any status from Plex. They’re not even replying anymore.

Extremely. It caused problems on a recent trip. And I can’t even see any sign of progress on a fix.

i don’t see progress on even understanding it. It seems like the right thing would be to capture the exact stream, using a different tool, and then saving the stream to replay it on their end, so they can debug it, eh? Or give us some additional debug tools we can use at home and get them the exact data they need. All I know is that comcast is of no help whatsoever… “oh you aren’t using our box, p**s off”.

I honestly don’t think it’s a Comcast problem. I’m not totally convinced it’s a SiliconDust problem, either. It works fine in NextPVR, and in the HDHomeRun app. Literally the only place I’m seeing a problem is in Plex. And here we are.

100% agree with you Cafe_Diem. The only point i was making about comcast is that if the stream itself being tuned is technically in some way different than other channels, then that could be the missing piece. When live tuning or DVR with plex, it goes to the transcoder (and both fail), and the transcoder is the thing that is trying to determine if there is a signal stream to transcode. That’s why I was hoping for more detailed debugging on the transcoder side of things, or some way to manually tune the channel and redirect it to the transcoder and debug it, outside of the plex interface. Know what I mean?
