I just upgrade to DSM7 - to be specific to version 7.0.1-42218 Update 3.
Plex Media Server upgrade didn’t go seemless as it thrw an error that it was unable to convert the database, but this doesn’t seem to have an affect on it. It’s still working.
PMS is now on version 1.21.0-3744 - showing that the newest online version is 1.21.0-3744 (beta) in Package Center. In the server admin console itself however it says that an update to 1.25.6.5577 is available and needs to be installed manually. I downloaded the package and when i manually install it, i get the error: “This package requires DSM 7.0-40000(update 0) or older.” and no option to install anyway.
did anyone come across this issue and knows how to solve it?
I think I am having the same issue. There was an update notification, and I clicked on it, downloaded the file, and installed it, but it is not installing. When I click on the +media button on the sidebar, I’m told that I must install the media server. It’s just running me around in circles and not doing anything.
Download the Synology (DSM 7) version from plex.tv.
The file name will end in DSM7.spk.
Example: Intel 64-bit version PlexMediaServer-1.25.6.5577-c8bd13540-x86_64_DSM7.spk
When you install the new release, 1.25.x, it will create a PlexMediaServer shared folder and migrate your Plex data folder (database, log files, etc) to that location. Depending on the amount of data, this may take minutes or hours. Do not interrupt the process. Let it run to completion.
PlexMediaServer is the equivalent of the Plex shared folder on DSM 6 systems. The same restrictions apply. It is reserved for use by the Plex Media Server application. Do not place any of your own media in that folder.
The issue is that if you browse to the Plex Server management console the link under “Please install manually” disregards which version of DSM you have and in my case it downloaded the version for DSM6. The proposed work-around (to download it from Plex.tv directly) was successful. I didn’t have to do anything with the Shared folder or migration of the database as that happened already when I upgraded my NAS to DSM7 and updated from Plex to PlexMediaServer.
I used this link - it doesn’t allow you to specify the DSM version nor the CPU. I expected it to know those as the version that was installed was already for this specific DSM and CPU.
