Since updating to the version mentioned above, I am unable to update the server through the web interface as I have done countless times over the past few years. When I click the “install” button it says that the server is updating but nothing happens. If I refresh the webpage it brings me right back to the page where it says download now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not sure where to start.
It’s probably solvable through a manual downgrade, followed by a database repair, and manual upgrade:
Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows
(do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.
do not use “Registry Cleaner/optimizer” software like CCleaner et al)
for safety, reboot Windows
get the installer of the previous server version (look into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Updates) and execute it
test the server again (first start after the DB rebuild can take a bit longer, don’t lose patience!)
deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows
(do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.
do not use “Registry Cleaner/optimizer” software like CCleaner et al)
download the installation exe of the newest server version and install it
