Server Update Stopped Working

Server Version#: 1.40.4.8679
Player Version#: 4.29.2

Updates have not worked since Server Version 1.40.4.8679
Always the same issue:

  1. Notification of new Server Update
  2. Click on update and it downloads
  3. Click “Install” and the ‘Server Not Available’ message displays (as expected)
  4. Not Available message Never Changes, after 10 minutes to an hour I restart Server and the Update has Not Installed and again I have the ‘New Update Available’ notification.
  5. Click download and it takes only a second as it is already downloaded
  6. Hit Install and back to #4 above in a loop until I give up and select ‘Ignore Update’
  7. When the next update is available back to the same loop.

  1. ensure that the database is in good health by executing this .bat file on the server machine (stop the server beforehand, using its task tray icon!) DBRepair/Windows at master · ChuckPa/DBRepair · GitHub
  2. Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray ico
  3. deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows
    (do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.
    do not use “Registry Cleaner/optimizer” software like CCleaner et al)
  4. for safety, reboot Windows
  5. download the installation exe of the newer version and install it https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server

I didn’t, I followed your instructions and am on Version 1.42.2.10156 now. I meant now that I am current, I have to wait for the next update to see if I can update ‘normally’. I already marked it as solved
