Cast / Chromecast Quality Settings Missing / Not Respecting App Settings

Since the Experience Preview, I am no longer able to either change playback quality settings for cast / have current app settings carry over to cast / chromecast quality settings.

In the old apps quality could be adjusted for casting, however it appears that is no longer an option? only direct playback? why are the app’s default settings not used for casting quality or why aren’t there at least discrete settings for casting? Outside of my network, casting is no longer possible as direct play is a non-started.

Would greatly appreciate anyone’s assistance if this is an ID10T error on my part, or if there is a timeline to return these setting options / feature to the new mobile apps.

Thanks so much!

Really hope the devs have this on their radar and that it gets added back to the new app. Super frustrating that casting is completely broken now with the inability to do anything but direct play. :frowning:

Hi @marcjt , Just wanted to say that I agree and am having the same issues with casting. Casting seems to ignore my settings and I also am finding myself to have to disable the casting to for example switch subtitle tracks, to then enabling it again because for some reason I cannot do that from the casting interface it shows

cast is completely useless in its current form. why cant we control the quality?? this is insane

Well… here we are another four months later. Lot’s of great improvements to the new experience app, but incredibly bummed out that Chromecast is still DOA. Especially, since it worked pretty darned well in the old apps. :frowning:

Almost May, 2026, and this is still a problem.
