Chromecast

Server Version#: 1.42.0.9975
Player Version#: 2025.22.0 (966828455) - got this in my Samsung Galaxy phone plex app.

If I play the media directly through my phone, it works, I can change resolution, bit rate and etc through the quality settings.
Subtitles also works.

If I use this same phone to select a chromecast to cast, I can’t change quality settings anymore because the setting is no longer there.
Subtitles works sometimes, others not, can’t explain why.

Please help, 99% of my media I watch through Chromecast, I have been waiting for a fix for a long time, since the new app with the new GUI has launched, but no fix so far.
I don’t use Plex anymore because of this.

Thanks.

Which pointed me to the old app, Plex for Android - #525 by PlexAndroidReleaser

1- removed old app
2- downloaded the [Google Play (arm64v8a) 10.26.0 version for my Samsung Galaxy S10 Exynos from this link: Plex for Android - #525 by PlexAndroidReleaser
3- installed and logged in
4- Disabled auto update for this app in Play Store for Plex app.
Obs: In Android, when you click “update all”, it will find that Plex app auto-update is not set (disabled), and will ask if you want to update it anyway, just click: “Ignore”, and it won`t update Plex while updating all other apps in the phone.

Thanks, can close this thread.

Argh, just found out this is broken while trying to cast while on vacation. Come on Plex, this used to work just fine, you could just change the quality to match whatever connection you were on. It’s now become useless unless you are on a good internet connection.

I’m still waiting, too.

Still using an old Plex version.
