In an attempt to fix the missing and incorrect cast information on many of my movies I rematched via the movie database agent. This apparently removed all the extras including movie trailers from my movies. Is there a happy middle ground or is this a trade off we’re stuck with?

This is not needed. All you need to do is to edit the properties of the Plex Movie agent:
“Cast List Source”

After making the above adjustment, go to
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
and put a checkmark into the line ‘Plex Movie’:
There is a third measure to prevent embedded cast info in mp4 and m4v files to override those from TMDB:
Go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under
Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
+
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
+
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
After doing all of the above, Refresh a movie.
If that doesn’t change anything, perform a ‘Fix Match’ procedure.
If that still doesn’t help, clean out the agent’s local caches
Then perform a full Plex Dance with the movie(s).
To avoid further complications, make sure that your file and folder names are compliant:

Ugh thank you, I got some bad advice elsewhere. This seems to be repairing things.
