Am I ever going to be able to cast live TV from my device? I feel like this is a no brainer and can’t imagine what is taking so long. There are third party non supported channels that already do this, but I’d love to be able to use Plex’s built in menu and features.
On top of that, why don’t we yet have the ability to view live TV in the web app? most of us have powerful enough servers that transcoding isnt an issue. So what’s the hold up?
I’m paying more than I want to for an HD Home Run because I thought these features were forthcoming. Anyone have an ETA?
Plex doesn’t publish a roadmap. So probably won’t get an ETA. But recently the FireTV and maybe the Web app have gained Live TV functionality.

As of now, I’m able to watch live TV from my HDhomeRun through the web app. The original issue of this thread was that you can’t cast it. However, although the web app still has no cast button, you can use the generic casting button in Chrome. I did have some issues at times (the video is scrambled) but mostly I can use Chrome browser’s casting ability to cast the live broadcast. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to cast the World Series next week!
wouldn’t it be nice…unsupported apps will cast okay, but Plex still won’t cast live programming through Chromecast, at least not for me and I’ve been a PlexPass member since I started Plex.
