Fixed by going back to 1.24.2.4973 on QNAP as mentioned above… Glad I still had it in the recycle bin.
It’s pretty sad how long this has been going on.
Having to stream live TV to an iOS device when everything else on Plex streams perfectly to my TV via Chromecast is kind of irritating. Especially as this previously worked without major issues for years.
Can anyone at Plex please at least acknowledge that the last server release broke something? I’m happy to help with logs etc if someone on their team wants to investigate with me.

Any way to get an acknowledgement that the team is aware of this regression?
I know adding “me too” won’t fix anything but I’ll do it anyway. I have tried to contact Plex about this as well so hoping a fix or update will be coming soon.
Same issue I’d like to cast my live tv to my actual tv.
Same here. Makes no difference if I try to cast from browser or mobile app, and to both Chromecasts in the house (different models). Only affects live TV streams. All other content still works. Have done factory resets on the Chromecasts to no avail.
Bumb this thread! Was able to get Chromecast working by downgrading to “1.24.2.4973” -version…
It just got worse for me as the guide for LiveTV in a browser now requires 1.24.4.
I have the same issue with the latest version 1.26.1.5772. I had the issue with 1.23.x as well.
I’ve also confirmed that downgrading to 1.24.2.4973 fixes the problem. Can we get some attention to get this fixed in the current version?
Broken for me as well…can’t watch Plex live tv on my 2 nest hubs, which was the reason I purchased the Plex app to begin with. Disappointed.
I’m assuming no one has any idea how to actually flag this issue to Plex?
They at least need to update the documentation to inform users it doesn’t work!
This is affecting me too. plexmediaserver 1.26.0.5715-8cf78dab3 on Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS.
Tuner is HDHomeRun EXTEND (HDTC-2US)
Cast device is a Gen2 Chromecast, running System firmware 275994, Cast firmware 1.56.275994.
Casting local content works (including shows recorded from the same tuner) but Live TV doesn’t and gives an error “Sorry! Something went wrong”
Tried various “Transcoder Quality” in Live TV & DVR Device Settings, same problem
“Original format”, “Highest quality”, and “Low quality (240p)”
Can you guys provide some details on how you are casting?

Sever 1.26.0.5715 using the iOS app to cast to a Nest Hub and a Chromecast ultra. Casting itself works and I can cast and show or move from my library. I can’t do tv from a tuner (plex tv channels work fine and if it’s on my DVR drive in plex I can watch local tv). When you select a channel from the local tuner it just barfs and says “sorry something went wrong”. On my firetv app, the tuner works without issue. I can navigate to it and watch the locals.
What tuner do you have?

HDHomerun Connect Quatro for me. Similar experience, can stream live TV without issue in web app, but get the same error when trying to cast to Chromecasts. Same on both my Chromecasts in the house, same regardless of device I’m trying to cast from.
Casting from Google Chrome on a Windows PC or Android phone - tried iPad and android apps as well.

I cannot find anything about this on the support site other than that I should be able to cast LiveTV from an IOS device or the web (not local) app. Neither works. I get the (universal) “Sorry” message with no other information than “Something went wrong,”
NOTE: I am able to cast recorded programming.
This is one of many problems I have with LiveTV and DVR functionality including but not limited to subtitles, backward scrolling, and general guide problems. Please solve the casting problem first (if I get a vote).
