I’m having issues with Live TV stopping after 5 minutes while being transcoded, turning off captions to allow direct play does fix the issue, but there’s no easy way to universally turn off captions. Some other people are having the same issue. Here and here.
I’m also having another super weird issue, where nothing will play, Live TV or regular TV Shows.
Played the regular show at: 15:57
Live TV around: 15:34
The only way to fix the second issue is to wipe all data from the Plex app, relogin, and everything should be working again.
After a few days the issue re-appears. I’ll try to get more logs the next time this happens as well as better timestamps. I have server logs if those would be helpful as well. Thanks!

I’ve been having Google chromecast with Google tv issues with plex as well. I have to use my firetv for plex because the chromecast keeps failing to load videos.
Got your ping. Can you provide a new log and let me know what show/movie you tried to play along with the time? Also provide the PMS logs.
I took a look at your earlier log. Were you using a different account other than your admin at that time? It also showed the server you were accessing was offline at the time. Could it be your PMS crashed which is why playback stopped?
Thank you very much for coming over here! It happened tonight, but I didn’t see this early enough to grab a log. I do have 4 other logs that I gathered a little bit ago.
A majority of these have been with another user, not the admin, but in most cases I have tried it with the admin user with no change. I don’t believe the server was offline at any point. Clearing all data from the Plex app does seem to temporarily fix the issue for about a day or two.

I don’t know if it’s related, but this just started happening last evening while watching Live TV on my phone. I didn’t have captions on, but Live TV would exit back to the Guide after about 5 five minutes. Each channel would load and play just fine. About 5 minutes later, boom, exit to Guide.
So, is it on the phone or Chromecast side? Or is it on the server side? Note that I’ve never had this issue with my phone before.
The app appears to be losing the connection back to the server. I’d prefer a new log with the latest Android app. There were some changes made recently to how your server is contacted by the app. I’d like to make sure any errors you are getting have those changes in place.
I’m glad I found this so I know it’s not just me. My streaming stops right around three minutes. I find that casting live tv from my phone to the Chromecast helps avoid this issue for the time being. It sucks but at least it is a simple workaround and allows me to still watch live tv on that specific tv.
Edit: Actually when casting, it stops after fifteen minutes. Way better to resume after fifteen than three.
I have the same issue… I thought it was Wi-Fi disconnecting, so I ran cat5 and a USB C hub, but it is doing the same thing… how can I help get this issue resolved?
I also don’t think it is the Wi-Fi, I am running unifi AC pros and the firesticks I used to use worked perfectly fine… I switched to GTV to have everything in the house under the same umbrella

I have the same issue with Google TV (not with a previous chromecast) and the LiveTV Plex. I return to the guide after 3 minutes approximatively.

Same issue here. I tested this numerous times on the latest model Chromecast with Google TV and the live tv stream will exit back to the guide within 3:35 to 3:45 of beginning the stream consistently. I have another Chromecast I’ll test this on as well as an LG CX tv app.
Edit: I have a client log capture from the beginning of live tv stream to when playback is stopped and kicked back to the guide. Not comfortable posting the logs for all since I haven’t scrubbed it but I’d be more than willing to send to dev. My small brained diagnosis seems to be a memory or buffer overflow after reviewing the log.
Same problem here. New Chromecast with Google TV. Noticed mine seems to happen when I am playing something that is actively being recorded. Seems ok on a basic TV stream.
