I have two versions of a movie, one is a Blu-Ray remux and one is a popular x265 rip.
PGS subtitles play fine when I have just the Blu-Ray, but when there are two versions the PGS subtitles are not displayed, even though Tautulli says they are.
I confirmed this was the problem by removing the x265 version and trying the Blu-Ray version again.
That’s strange. Yes the PGS subs are shown as selected.
What other information can I provide?
I’ve confirmed that casting from a phone works as intended.
Direct playback. Only one set of subs.
Selecting ‘None’ and then going back to ‘English’ actually did work, but only for that session. When I go back to the guide I have to do it again.
I also use the CCwGTV and my wife has noted that it has not been playing subs a lot. The most recent is the copies of ST-TNG I have, they are MKV containers and the subs are SRT. According to plex it is direct playing everything but the subs do not appear. I did note that the client on the CCwGTV she is using is behind a version and it doesn’t seem to happen on the Unit on the living room that is on the latest version
These files only has the one sub stream so it’s turn off then back on. That didn’t seem to make a difference. Stopping playback then restarting with subs enabled from the get go got them to show again. I’ve also seen it display subs oddly, like instead of the full text it’s just a “(” and maby a word on the next line.
It’s one thing that bugs me about subs in plex. It doesn’t remember that I want full subs from episode to episode and we always end up starting them mid playback. plex defaults to none, or forced if the file has a forced sub stream
