Change aspect ratio and increase stock volume to 200 like VLC

In phones like Android pixels, the volume is low for local content but higher for YouTube. You can try streaming the content via plex and then streaming the same content via VLC where the aspect ratio can be changed and also volume can be boosted to 200%. The audio aurally being louder and clearer on VLC with boosted volume.

While the UI is great with React Native bliss, it’s lacking core functionality like changing aspect ratio and boosting volume.

This was the same problem faced in the old app too, just search “volume” in r/plex.

If you can’t implement this, then at least let us play in an external player like VLC and sync the watch status.

I just wanted to provide some constructive criticism. Its not always about how the app looks.

I do not know if it was discussed and I cannot promise anything but I will pass your feedback along.

I’m not sure about the ability to boost the audio volume, but four different display modes are now available in version 2025.13.0: Letterbox, Original, Stretch, and Zoom.

They’re available during playback by pressing the vertical ellipsis menu, then Playback Options, and then setting the display mode. Letterbox appears to be the default (as it was in the legacy Android app).

I forgot to mention, the setting is persistent, at least in my testing. That is, if you set the display most to Stretch while playing a video, the next you play will also be in Stretch mode.

Now that external player feature is not coming to Android, boosting volume is vital for Pixel phones. Most downloaded content has a 5.1 dolby Atmos. I mean releases like flux, bynder…the regular tv and movie releases found on private trackers come with dolby Atmos.

Now, all pixel phones don’t support dolby Atmos or dolby vision. You can AI or Google to verify. We pixel users were circumnavigating this problem by playing the files in VLC (previously because Plex allowed external player) to boost volume to 200 or 500 which was great to be like dolby Atmos itself on the boosted volume.

It’s unwatchable without boost volume. Please verify if you want to with a pixel phone. If you want any video files to test, I can share.

I am only asking for this because external player is now gone. Please don’t neglect us. :folded_hands:

If the old display modes are available then great but boosting volume is equally important. It’s unwatchable without that and I’ve explained above why.
