[Feature Request] Use External Player from Plex/Web

Hey Guys

I just noticed that popcorn time just updated their GUI to include a button to allow playing video files through their gui, or alternatively through VLC.

I would like to see either a boost in audio Volume output, or a VLC option.

Issue is when using plex from the browser like i often do, lots of files have super low volume. When I open the file direct and play with VLC, its much better. So that's what I am getting at.

What do you guys think? Perhaps there are settings already in place to achieve this?

Do you not use the volume control in the lower right corner or is this insufficient?

VLC allows the volume to be set to max 200%.

This is practical on movies which do not have DRC settings applied to their multichannel audio, especially with small speakers like on many flatscreen tv's.

How about trying 'Audio boost' in the web app?

You don’t say what client you’re referring to. Vlc playback on what device?

sorry to have not come back to the thread in so long.

yeah, volume option in bottom right is not sufficient.

Like Otto stated, the fact that VLC can port out substantially louder audio, is a huge advantage.

Both the audio being pushed via chromecast, or just the audio that is heard when watching via the plex mediaserver browser window could be improved.(even the option to use vlc on a android phone vs plex gui would be nice too)

I will often find the file in plex, then open in explorer to play with VLC for these low audio files. Pain in the ass, and the fact that popcorn time now allows the user to play via their GUI, or VLC was an awesome addition.

Updated the title here to better reflect your ‘Feature Request’

As for the android client, you do have the option to use an external player as desired.

Have you tried the 'audio boost' option to which I linked in post #3?
