So I decided to migrate OS on my MSI-based desktop system from Win10-64 to Linux Mint. My Plex Server content (.TS and .MP4 files are on an internal NTFS HDD RWX accessible to both OSs. Plex Server on Win10 worked great…no issues, but Plex Media Server finds no libraries even when I tell it where to look and even if I copy video files to new folders on linux local drive and tell the server to look there. PMS seems 2B running OK b/c I don’t get any server errors from my Samsung TV Plex app; just no libraries available. Double checked file and folder permissions. They are the equivalent of 777 right now.
Attached is the tail of my latest logs:

I am going to suggest right now,
- Don’t spend any more time with Mint.
- Install mainstream Ubuntu. 18.04.2 LTS
- Now perform your migration.
I say this because of the following:
- Mint isn’t officially supported, Ubuntu is
- Mint is quirky and has caused me many hours trying to help folks for issues which never should have happened.
- Whatever you read about it, consider the source.
The permissions issues you have above can be easily resolved but first, let’s get you on a stable base. Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS is one such base
